I've got a 70 GS 455 Convert that (according to the restorer that I tracked down) has a "GM/Buick replacement 455 short block". it would have been purchased around 1999-2000 or maybe 2001. I haven't tracked down the casting number, but is anyone familiar with what this short block might be? Compression ratio? Cam? Anything else. Runs real strong (about like my stock dynoed 70 Stage 1 455), but would love to know what it is. Any help would be appreciated. Pete Lyon Denver
Just to clarify, this is supposedly a "new" OEM short block available from GM. Just wondering if anyone ever heard of gM/Buick releasing a "replacement" short block like Chrysler did with their Hemi and Chevy did with LS-6's.
They had some pickled short blocks usually about 76 that were sold off by GM. There is one currently for sale on this Board by PalBuick.
