Has anyone done this? Successfully? I have left over Paint from previous paint job, bought a 1:18th scale 67 GS 400...Any advice? Was considering doing the inside as well...

They can be repainted any colour you want. They are relatively easy to dis-assemble, to make painting easier,
and can be detailed to any degree you want.
There are several websites that cater to the various scale diecast models, and custom model builders. :TU:

They can be stripped of old paint with any good paint stripper. The biggest thing is to use a quality ETCHING PRIMER on the bare die-cast. The china metal is crap. seal good.
I have done 4 57 Roadmaster conv. so far in diff. factory colors and have had no problems.

I did my 55 century. I just chemically cleaned the areas I wanted to paint, gave it a quick prime, and shot it. Very simple, and looks great.

I work with ERTL on their Environmental issues and go up to see how they make these all the time. Every time I am there, I never miss out on going to the company store, and buying the "latest and greatest" off the shelf.
Last time I was there, they were selling off the 1970 GSX 1/18 scale cars for $15.00 each. Great way to Christmas shop for friends. :beer

the hard part is finding the right primer in a spray can.
I used store brand primer with Testors actual model paint and it chips off so easy

I havnt finished the project yet, but I took a black 71 GSX and made it into a convertible.

I have to paint it red to match my GS 350 conv, but after 2 failed attempts now, its sitting in a box on my bench... I need to get it done

'Bulldog' primer will do the trick. It's available at your local auto-paint store.

That sounds like an eBay sideline job waiting to happen! At those prices you can't lose. Turn 40 cars a month for an extra $1000 to spend on the bride.
