OK; the expensive stuff that a lot of home restorers can't do or aren't very good at is done. (guilty as charged, I hate paint and bodywork!)
Depending on whether or not the Vatican should be notified for the floors, this might not be a bad deal. Interior parts aren't going to be cheap or plentiful, but it's do-able.
If it was local to me I'd go and look at it.

Yes it looks like a decent start. The electrical work needed will probably scare a lot of people off though. If it was closer to me I’d check it out too.

That isn’t the correct steering wheel is it? Definitely not a Riv expert but doesn’t look right, not to mention the tach & gauges, wonder how bad that wiring is hacked up in the event some kid got hold of it at some point.
Ah,think I will contact the guy and at least get the story.

Well, the guy says “this is a GS and they are really worth something so $5500 is a great price” (I didn’t waste his time negotiating but maybe up North but not down South, you could easier talk someone, other than me, into the plague than a full size Buick).
Tire dry rot, gas tank is full of 4 year old fuel “varnish” the”newer paint” is already bubbling in a couple spots, sat in his backyard for 10 years “floors aren’t perfect but not bad” wiring is “all over the place, real mess” wrong carb, distributor, steering wheel etc.
If I owned it I couldn’t get $1500 for it but wasn’t about to say that to him. Also hasn’t been run in 4 years so doesn’t know if motor is even free.
Hope he likes it,gonna own it a long time down here

Yeah from what he told you about the condition he is dreaming of $5500. It’s hard to tell much from the pictures.

Yeh, I didn’t want him to blast me so I said nothing other than big Buick’s are a hard sale down South & he immediately went into complaints about all the tire kicking low ballers.
The plus was the paint for me and he said “yehhh it wasn’t the greatest paint job when new, definitely have seen much better” and then as he was checking the cars mileage and floor pans (sat 10years on grass) he noticed bubbles under the paint.
No idea of mechanical condition of anything, full tank of really bad fuel, rats nest of wiring, low quality paint job already bubbling and “surface not too bad” rust in pans.
He will be lucky to get $1500 for it down here,I wouldn’t pay it

I would bet the exterior isn't as decent as it pictures either

Thanks for the info John, reading between the lines as to what the guy said yeah, it's a $1500 car, and he'll be lucky if it isn't headed to scrap next year when the paint starts to come apart. Sounds like someone who started it got in over his head; paid too much for a lousy paint-job and grew to hate the car.

It's a shame, these big Riv's are getting more scarace everyday! Well if someone does buy it and decides to part it out hit me up I could use some stuff for my Riv!

That may be true but how many are actually still around? I have a hard time finding parts for mine especially since I'm in Canada.

In Canada it's tough to find parts for anything other than a 5 year old Chevy, Ford or Ram truck. Anything else either doesn't make it past the border without stupidly huge Duty charges, or gets scrapped after 10 years. For a vintage Buick, forget it, even spark plugs are no longer available. Sadly, (but better for my wallet) I get everything out of the US now.

Agreed! I get the majority of my parts from the US also with the exception of a few guys out in western Canada.
