I'm removing the heater core from my '64 and replacing it with a delete panel when I swap engines in a few weeks. Will removing the inner fender allow me access to remove the heater or do I have to yank the fender too? I realize removing the entire front clip would probably make the engine swap easier but I'd rather leave as much in place so I don't have to worry about getting all lined up when reinstalling.

If you can get the inner fender out you can indeed easily get the heater box off. I totally understand not wishing to remove the body parts, but you are most likely correct in assuming the swap would be easier with the front clip removed. I can say removing the inner fender will not be all that easy, the way it all fits together makes it somewhat difficult. It is close quarters in there, the inner panel fits in a lip on the outer panel, getting them separated without damage will be difficult. There is not room to manuver in there, it all is connected, inner, outer, core support, battery tray, etc. I have to wonder if removing the clip wouldn't be easier as that would be the least number of bolts which would require being removed. That would be a great time to rebuild the door hinges also. One thing usually leads to another.
    Good luck on the swap!
