I am looking at a car that is listed as a parts car because of no paperwork is available. The car looks like it hasn't been on the road in @15 years or more. Is it possible to get the car registered at all?
    Thanks,
    Dan :3gears:

in most states you should be able to apply for a salvage title, but I believe there avenues to pursue for lost registrations/proof of ownership

Ive bought many a car sans paperwork. Its easy to obtain paper on an old car. You can go thru the NYS Dept of Motor Vehicles ( I see we live in the same state) . Youll need to make an impression of the VIN tag. As you know, if its a 72 or earlier car, it has no title. The registration is transferrable. If the car has been off the road for more than 8 years, NYS wipes it off the computers. The VIN will come up "not on file". If you dont want to jump thru the hoops at DMV, you can pay 169.00 to www.broadwaytitle.com and they can send you an auctioneers title from Alabama. Basically they launder the VIN thru another state. Totally legal though. Anyway, dont hesitate to guy a car without a title, so long as you know its not stolen. Good luck.
