Sprayed my wagon in my garage wth the door open on a hot summer day. Just need bumper fillers to complete it. Very fun car. Jon
Just a low compression 350 for now. Have a hi comp 350 going in it in the Winter. Should be fun fun fun. Hard to find car! Wish I knew the production numbers.
Wow! I have never seen one of those before! I've seen the Malibu wagon and a Pontiac but have never seen a Buick Wagon of that year. Thanks for sharing! Where did you get that?
Thanks, it is a rare bird! I got it from Mike Peaserchick on the board here. its an original car, with all its original body metal still intact. 160k and still going, without a rattle in it. Power everything and everything power still works. :TU: Thanks, Jon
Is that a GN hood or did the car come that way? Also the headlights look to be a little different than the ones on a regular Regal. Are they the same?
It is a GN hood. A hail storm destroyed the factory one, so I figured upgrade! There are quite a few differences from a standard regal.. Front clip is different, bumpers, windshield and trim, doors etc.... Almost nothing on the body is interchangeable, but they kept the regal appearance. Thats why I like it. Hope I never wreck it, because good luck finding parts! Jon
Most the body panels, including the fenders looks just like a Malibu wagon, but I like this much better than the Malibu. I like this car a lot. If I could find a nice old wagon I would buy it. Just wondering, where the bumpers originally chrome or did you have them painted?
The bumoers and everything else was chrome, and it looked bad, so I had them stripped and then I primed and painted them body color. I do all my own work, but I dont have the chemical to strip chrome. The rest I sand blasted and painted satin black. As for having it not rattle, that is a LOT of work. Its a pretty solid car. On the areas that rattle I like to use the windshield butyl to put inbetween. It is not permanent, it adheres very well, and has a cushion for the sound deadening. Any residue comes off with Brake Cleaner. I just put it behind panels with rattles etc. Jon
Hey Jon, Great job on the car! I wanna see that baby at Coulmbus next year with the new 350 all ready to go! Good to see you got rid of the single exhaust from last year. I didn't even pick up on the painted bumpers until you mentioned it. From 78-81 they based the "downsized" mid-sized wagons off the Century. When the Century went FWD in 82 the RWD wagon went to the Regal. They made the 82-83 Regal wagon based off the 4-dr Regal and both looked different from the '81 and up 2-dr Regal. It looks like they used the grill area from the 78-79 Regal and the quad headlight section from the 80 and up Regals. The 78-80 Turbo hood looks like it fit so they probably used slightly redesigned fenders from those years. Mike
Thanks, it is a fun car! I am trying to focus on not driving it daily. As I hunt for parts, I am slowly realizing just how rare this car is.... I cannot find any but 2 in the last 2 years I have looked. I would love to find the production number on the thing. It sure is a mish-mosh of years on the assembly. The fenders are different in the front, but the front end is interchangeable with the 4dr regal, and the 78-79 regal. The headlight bezels are unique though, although they may be the same on the 4 door model, not sure? Those GN Wheels are the same vector wheels that they used on all the T-types, but in 84 only (I think), they powder coated them with black inserts. A lot of people call them the General Lee Rims. I think they compliment a black aout job nicely. Now I just need to make the car sound/drive as "bad" as it looks. Ha! Thanks, Jon
Look what popped on ebay: This is only the 2nd Regal Wagon I have ever seen on there. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...aa0QQitemZ120466053792QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks Jon
