I have a 1983 Limited Regal that I am going to drop a 455 into.
The question I have is on the rear suspension. I know what control arms, shocks, springs, etc I am going to use. Has anyone
welded any kind of brackets for the lower control arm connection
(front) portion where these meet the frame. A friend has a 1967 Big Block Chevelle that has the brackets from the connection of the lower control arms at frame that looks about 45 degrees to the rear crossmember frame on both sides. These came from the factory on Big Blocks. I am using a 1985 T-Type 8.5" Rear End. HR parts has some small brackets for re-inforcing, But I need a little extra for the 550 ft/lb plus torque to keep the control arms from wanting to lift and go through the floor boards.

    Thanks,

    Hi Tommy,

I have added those frame bracket supports from HRParts-n-Stuff to my '86 Regal's frame. As well as BMR adjustable upper and solid lower control arms with poly bushings to hang my '85 GN rearend. I also added a Hotchkis' Brace kit to triangulate it all and further brace things (what you are referring to on your friends '67 Chevelle but these are MUCH BETTER than the stock stamped ones!). I'm currently awaiting my HR's Anti-Roll/Sway Bar set-up and QA-1 12-position adjustable shocks to add also. Kirban's sells a nice pinion stop that I added as I believe that can help too.:TU:

I also have air bags in each rear spring but do not know if I will need them once the Anti-Roll bar is in and adjusted properly.

    Hope this helps....:)

    Thanks Kerry,

Your set up is pretty much the same as what I have in mind.
I have heard about HR Parts Sway bar and seems like a done deal. I am just trying to prepare for the massive torque and pounding that the 462 is gonna dish out.
