Ok, my new adventure looks to be some crafts that require a scroll saw. Not intricate work, just cut-out shapes to make these 'layered animals':

So, I need to buy a scroll saw to get started. Looking for recommendations on style, brand, features to look for or avoid. I know I can buy a new one (lower end model) for around $130. I do see quite a few on Craigslist for way under $100 and one of those will probably be just fine - I just need to know what to look for.

Sure, I may have to upgrade later if I keep doing this. The lady at the craft show told me she started with a basic saw, but now has a $1200 model! Definitely just want a good starter - just in case I decide this was a terrible idea later! LOL.

Whatever you get make sure it uses "pin end" type blades not the "plain end". Pin end type blades have a pin through the end to help secure the blade, plain end rely on clamping force and come loose easily. Also keep in mind that size refers to the distance from the blade to the frame for the top arm, same as a band saw.
