Where should I go for re-chroming and any idea what it costs to do the bumpers on a 70 GS?

Cost is about $450 but the shipping is stiff now. Lifetime warranty.

Definitley dont send them to Wisconsin. Prices here are OUTRAGIOUS for chroming. And to top it off they take their sweat time getting them done. Its been three weeks that a shop now has had just 1 valve cover to rechrome. Ever week I call he says O Give me a few more days. And not to mention I am not being inpatient with the guy beacuse he said 1 week.

That being said I REPEAT if thet request half the money down turn around and leave. They will take your money and sit on the work.

At least you have choices! A year ago I paid $600 to the only place I know of within 1000 miles. They did a good job, but whew! :eek2: :eek2:

Three years ago I met a vendor at Cruisin theCoast . He had some really beautiful bumpers on display . so I decided to let him do mine . they were back in about 4 or 5 weeks . I unwrapped the N-25 first , thats when the tears and anger started ; RUINED !!!!! When they removed the old chrome they used a grinder , not chemical strip . Pinholes every where all over the bumper , then they plated over the holes , which of course left the pinholes and they would do nothing about it . " Alabama Bumper Boyz " . I was so sick at that I have not unwrapped the front bumper yet . Just my nickles worth on platers .

Jim, does Tri-City have jigs to repair GS bumpers? Is it $450.00 each? Do they take forever?

No, I do not believe they have jigs. So fit your bumper to your car and bend it as needed before you send it. They do take out dings, dents, etc but I believe they use dollys and a press etc. On the other hand Northstar as an example will do done of that.

Time varies but I would say 2 months give or take on the turn around from the date of reciept.

If it is the same as Advance in Nashville I have seen their potmetal work on display at shows. Looked good. I think they will be at the Charlotte Auto Fair next week.

Thats them . Thanks . How good is their bumper work ?

I have never paid any attention to their bumpers just their potmetal. I think potmetal is tougher work than bumpers.

If they were mine I would send the bumpers to Tri City in Elizabethon , Tn because I have seen their work over and over. It is consistently good work with a lifetime warranty.

Tri City comes to the Charlotte show. People save there bumpers and take them to Tri City at Charlotte in order to save the shipping. So in order to get ahead of that glut of bumpers I would ship to them early this week. A week from next Monday the Charlotte show bumpers will be in line.

I live in Biloxi and do cruisn the coast every year. I let Bama boys do Three bumpers for me, A 72 rear, a 71 front which came out great. But the N-25 they did 2 times and the chrome was cracked both times, so I sent it to Amps im mobile who had to do it 2 times to get it right. Were talking 4 rechrome's on one bumper, I waited a year on this bumper to be done right. Their now out of buisness {AMPS},. I have a friend in Tennessee who uses the one there. His bumpers came out great.
