WE just got home from the Turner Bash. Let me recap our day. Lynn got up at 4:00 to check the weather and found a monsoon! Did not matter you know what they say, the show must go on! Left the house at 5:00, had to get the Ice and donuts. We pulled up to the dealership expecting to find the tent in a heap after the strong winds over night, Good start the tent was standing, but all of the rain ahd puddled right outside of the entrance and about 1/4 of the inside was a swamp. No big deal just rearrange tables. Put the table colths back on and wipe the chairs off. 7:00 till down pour, radar says that it is going to clear. 30mph wind, damp cold, OH well we can move the food tables inside and park cars inside so no one is too cold and wet. 9:00 still no one shows! Lynn's starting too get a little depressed, 10:00 watching TV, Harrisburg mayor declares at states of emergency and people are to stay off of the roads, Man what else can happen. Radio station calls to tell us that it is up to us but they think that it would be wrong to come and broadcast, COME ON IN,when people aresuppost to stay home. Okay, no big deal, nobody here to seethem anyway. Now we do realize that it is more important to bail water out of your house, and to risk your life to drive on flooded roads to get to a car show is pretty stupid. 10:30 I figure we are done, I look out the window of the dealership and see to Buicks headed our way! Yellow 70 GSX and a 69 whilte conv. We are saved, dosen't matter if no one else shows! WE parked them inside, more show, Hey this is going to be ok! Look outside and the sun is coming out! More car arrive, people are coming in to see the cars, Thankfull to be out of the wind. We ended up with 20 cars! Now I know that there could have been more, be we were VERY HAPPY with the number that showed! We easly had 4 times as many spectators as cars! We made 120 hamburgers and just as many hot dogs. Out of all of the cars only 4 had ever been to one of the gatherings! All new people! I think everyone made new friends and had a great time! Duane gave a mini demonstration of the way to repair parts. We sold 50/50 tickets and the auction was a big success! We sold 82.00 worth of 50/50 tickest and the Winner won 41.00, but chose to give 20.00 of the winnings back to the BPG. The 50/50 winner also bid on one of the 3 BPG memberships up for auction. The 3 memberships were sold to ALL new members, SO WELCOME!! ALL TOLD WE RAISED $714.00 for the BPG. For the small crowd I think that is GREAT!!

Now I need to Thank a few people: First Turner Buick Staff, there is nothing that they would not have done to makethis a success! Jim Weiss, Cole SMITH (I got your name right) and Bruce Hunter, I thank you for the support you have given us. Scott MIller, Annie Okley and Frank Mcyintire, and Tubbed for there generous donations! With out them we would not have been able to raise the money we did! HUGE HUGE THANK YOU!! I would also like to say a big THANK YOU to Bill Lagna, not only did he donate, but they bought alot of items!

And last but not least, Duane Heckman! Thank you not only for the donation to the auction, but for ALL of the help that you have given Lynn and I.

For all that could not make it, You did miss a good time. Pictures will be posted by my son as soon as he can down load them!!

    THANK YOU

    Paul and Lynn

Thanks again for the invite and for letting me keep the car there. It was hairy at first in the morning with the flooding and all, but I am really glad that I made it there!!! Once again I really appreciate it. It was good to put faces with the names!!!

Nice meeting all the guys and especially to Zach who drove all the way from NY!!! Nice 225!!!! and he uses it as a daily driver.

See you next weekend at Tod's.
    Once again, thanks

Yea, Zach gets tha long distance award, but Grisby get the award for the most dangerous ride, he had to go across flooded roads and bridges to get to the show. His car was at the dealership already. His wife had to go out abd check the roads before he could decide to take the car home. Glad you made it ok Bill. See you next week, Good Lord willing and if the creeks don't rise!

It was great meeting everyone, and seeing some fine cars!
Also, I got a lot of information from talking to everybody.
Stuff that gets you thinking. I got a line on a bunch more junkyards.
Frame restoration, floorpan replacement. All kind of good stuff.
All the while everyone treats you like a neighbor.
I'm glad I "braved" the weather. It started out pretty nasty looking.
Thanks to all that put in the work to make it a fun time.
The only thing that would have made it better is if I would have brought my car...

Zach, Lools like you had a beautiful drive home, Enjoy the M&M's!

Tom, It was great that you could make it on Saturday! How about we get together this fall and hit Hoffert's, maybe late October after the snakes go in.
We will look for you at Carlisle. Hope you made it home ok.

Paul, congrats to you and everyone that made the trek under those conditions, you cannot change the weather, as we found out at this years BPG nats. but you stayed focused and had a good turnout, thanks to all who attended, these get togethers help the Club to become closer together as a tightknit group, Glad you all had a good time, I will try and make it next year, but with being an excavator, this summer has been trying!

Did you say Junkyard? :3gears: You bet! Just let me know.
I gotta try and decode all the notes :puzzled: I scribbled down while Bill was pointing at little towns on the map.

Got home just fine, its an easy trip. The only choke point is rt.15 when I'm almost home. They gotta four lane the rest of that road..
