I'm about done wyeth the rebuild, but I'm going to need brake drums for the front and I can't find them. Any one who cam help that would be appreciated
http://www.oldbuickparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=18271 CARS is one vendor that might have them. These are listed as cast iron, the originals were probably aluminum with a cast iron liner. The aluminum ones have always been a popular item for the hot rod crowd - they show up on traditional Ford rods all the time.
Correct: they are cast drums with HUGE aluminum cooling fins. I have the complete drums and spindle package from my 1967 Riviera available. I upgraded to custom 2-piston calipers on 15" rotors last year, and have the entire stock front brakes package boxed up in my garage - except for the master cylinder. Send me a message if you're interested in the whole lot.
Thank you very much!!! Ill go with the new ones. I'm very exited and nervous. Tonight is the night. I think ill finally be returning over my freshly rebuilt 430-4. Its my first venture into doing my own work on my beloved '68 electra. Wish me luck guys!!!!!
Welcome! How, did it go? The first time(only) I rebuilt an engine (the Roadmaster's in 1975); we forgot to tighten the oil filter canister. about, half the oil on the drive way. ou:
Doubt you will find any repro drums as they are 'unobtanium' !! Good 'used is your best source, and drums from same year Riviera, or Wildcat will fit. You can also have your old ones relined, or rebuilt by J&G Relining www.jgrelining.com They advertise in the ROA Riview. :TU:
Its alive!!!!! ALIVE!!!!!!!!!! Fired right up!!! Now to figure oy what all these vaccume tubes are for.
engine runs great!! Transmission not up shifting. Fluid is full. What vacume house is supposed to go too the transmission and from where?
