Basically, you pull the lens/light out of the mirror to do it. I think there are instructions on George's site, www.buickperformance.com

That is how I did it on my '70, and I think they are the same as far as replacing lights.

I can't find anything on that website about mirrors except the info on which years had chrome backed mirrors and which didn't.

69 has the stainless back inside mirror with the map light being an option. Although there is some debate about a clean changeover date the black finished back came out in the 72 model year.

Well it has to be done carefully. You squeeze the sides together(not the ends but the thin sides that run longways) and it will come right out. Hopefully your plastic is not brittle. HTH

ps, forgot to mention you remove the lense first, just pry that off with a small screw driver or penknife blade, then do what I said above

Bill is correct. You go in though the lens cover hole. If you take it apart you are asking to be the proud owner of a retired mirrror. It is easy to tear the rubber liner.

Just try prying the outer edge of the light lens with your fingernail first. if you are about to pull your nail off then try a small screw driver. Clean the contacts with some fine steel wool wool when apart sometimes that is all they need and the fuse type looking bulb is still good. You will be able to see if broken inside.

To my belief they did not make any in the 68-72 era with chrome.

Yes they made those until the 72 model when they went to the black back. There are members with personal experience indicating the transition was not clean.

Try spray on decal and adhesive remover and heat it with a hair dryer. YOu can buy the remover from Advance Auto or Auto Zone.
