what would be involved in swapping a 10 bolt posi w/disk brakes from a 79 trans am..im sure its not a direct bolt up..its a really good price but i want to make sure i can use it before i got it.. I've got a 73 buick century..i thought if it didn't fit i could just swap the brakes n stuff over into mine..thanks in advance for your advice
I believe the 79 T/A rear will be a leaf spring rear, so no go. If they are both 8.5's you can swap the guts. Not sure about the brakes. http://www.jdrace.com/diff_id/10b85.htm
You are much better off to have your rear end rebuilt with parts from JD (Monzaz on here) and for the disk brakes just go to the "Abodysite" where they are experts on the 73-77 GM A body cars and the mods for things like brakes etc.
