I looked at a 1970 GS350 today and noticed a rear sway bar. But, when I looked closely, it was different than my 71 GS. It bolted onto the bottoms of the track arms and the arms were not boxed. Was this original or an add-on?

that is a later sway bar. i think that style came on the 73 and later cars. they had inserts that fit up into the control arms and the sway bar bolted to the inserts.

    Same Bar

The 71 assembly manual shows bolts thru control arm, shim as needed, no inserts, just drill 2 holes on each side.
