I am thinking of adding a rear sway bar to my 67 GS convertible. Will this create issues like body flexing? Did Buick offer one for the 67 GS convertibles? Rich

That would be a nice addition to your ride!
You must also use boxed lower control arms when installing the sway bar....and might as well replace the bushings, too.
Several vendors sell a complete package. Ground-up has boxed control arms (with bushings) for $200 a pair, and for $289, you get a sway bar too. Pretty good deal! :TU:

I already have what I need to convert to a sway bar. BTW. OPGI, and others sell brackets you weld to standard control arms, whick make them boxed arms. They run under $30.00, and can be welded in easily, even on the car.

My concern is, will the added stiffness cause issues such as flexing the body, or is the frame rigid enough? Rich

You Will Have Zero Problem Switching To The Rear Bar In Fact You Will Kick Your Self For Not Doing It Years Ago. I Have Done The Rear Bar On All My Cars And It Makes A Great Improvment To Every Single One No Exceptions. The Convertable Has A Boxed Frame Anyway

I would use one. Use one either the same size as the front or smaller. I used a 1 3/8s rear bar with the GS400 15/16s or 1" (?) front bar. The front would sway slightly more than the rear wich put unnessesary stress on the frame. Handled like a rail car though. Unbelievable difference.
The first place to tighten up the handling is the front swaybar bushings. (all eight) Rubber is to soft. You're local auto store should have them in polyurethane.

He was talking about the frame itself being boxed on all convertibles not the lower control arms. Only the rear bar cars had the boxed lower control arms.

just picked up a 1" rear from ebay and 1 1/4" for the front, think i paid $218 for both shipped. bought the boxed lower and upper control arms for $209 from uni performance. real nice pieces. havent driven car yet but hope to see a big handling difference. also went with the zq8 steering box.

If you're going to use a Z28 steering box, you'll find your turning radius will increase a bunch, making tight driving situations a pain. That's one of the disadvantages to using the F body boxes. I think you can disassemble the boxes and alter the mechanical stops to help, but I've never tried it. The GN, Monte SS, 442 boxes of the mid 80's work better and keep the turning radius tighter. The only thing you have to deal with is the metric fittings, but its easily overcome.
