Rear sway bar cost and another question...

I inquired about a part number a while back for a rear sway bar. I checked for the cost last week at my local chebby dealership. I was quoted like $130.

Is this the price everyone else that has went this route received? I am curious, as I thought they were a little cheaper than that.

New ? added.... What bolts are used? Should I just use grade 8 bolts found at Home Depot? Or is there special bolts needed? I figured someone could help on this as well...

    Thanks for the inputs,
    Mike

I do not have the shims. I have the boxed control arms. I will try and find them on there also.

    Thanks for the input.

I could not find them there. I will go local for them. I did get the bar ordered for 78.49 total including shipping. Not bad at all.

    Mike,

Its not that hard to make your own shims. Get some flat stock, cut it to length, and drill some holes. The shim kits I've seen are usually a couple shims short of what is needed to install correctly.

There was a discussion on this a while ago, see if the search function will find it.

If not that is something that can be repoped easily here.

Yeah, I bought a hardware kit from The Parts Place to install my rear bar last year, and there were not enough shims to do the job. Had to fab up a few in the shop here. I discussed it with the rep at TPP, and they said they would check into it with their supplier, but I didn't get the impression they would end up putting more shims in the std kit.
