I was looking in a parts catalog with an effective date of September 1973. In section 12.181 there is a separate part number, 9843145, that is a "Gasket, spoiler to lid" for a 70 GSX. In my parts catalog dated June 1978, the gasket is not listed. I didn't have an illustration catalog for the 1973 version, but my illustration catalog for 1978 doesn't even show the spoilers. Lots of illustrations for 1973 to 1975, but lacking a lot of 70-72 pictures unfortunately.

Did these gaskets actually exist for some amount of time?

Scott i have seen remnants on 2 orig 70 spoilers...they where very similar to 69 Judge kinda foamy spongy plastic type

like the material on door jamb gaskets...

i have no idea if it was correct...back in the 80s many things where done that wasnt correct...also ive seen quite a few original cars back in the day...never saw a pair of brackets either..one was on my buddies stage yellow car and it was still an immaculate 2 owner low mile original...and it was near perfect garage queen.

Interesting. Guess it really depends on how many beverages were consumed for lunch as to what got put on some of the cars. Lots of possible variations.
