    I have -65 Wildcat (401 and ST400).
Is normal 80W90 oil ok in rear axle (shaft)?
And what is the oil capacity?

i used 80W90 gear oil in my '72 gs with 8.5 differential. capacity? i would slowly fill the rear housing until the oil level is just below the fill hole. this procedure may take a while due to the distance the oil has to travel thru the axle tubes. then drive the car and recheck the oil level.

i would think think 80W90 or straight 90 gear oil. in my '72 gs, the manual suggests 90 gear oil with 8.5 differential. capacity - about 3 litres.

Ok and thank you very much for information...
Is it right that there is no lock in rear axle (what is rear axle lock correct name?)?
And I can use just a normal 80w90 oil?

ps. sorry my bad english =)

IT IS CALL LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL OR NICKNAMED POSI - TRACTION

Sorry for the caps...not yelling. :)

The unit will be a clutch type unit to engage the lock your talking about with 2 preload springs.

    Take care, Jim
