so i replacde the package shelf about three years ago.
I bought a new black one from opgi and its faded alot and warped a little and looks old now.
yes my car sits outside all year but im not gonna replace this continually the rest still looks great. has anyone made a custom one can i see some pics if so.
i'm thinking of using some diamond plate and painting it black and cutting one out to mat.ch the old one. maybe even cut some buick tri-shields in it and back them with colored cloth for the speaker holes or just looks since i have no working stereo yet

c'mon someone has to have something different than faded out cardboard.
ive seen dodges with diamond tuck leather that matches the seats on it?
what else can a guy do?

also saw lots of cars at the show this weekend that had custom filler plates on the top of the core support / radiator extending out to grille
most had car brand or something engraved in them also
    made a pretty clean look
think im gonna try to come up with one for my car
    anyone have this on theirs??

I would put a cover over it while its sitting in the sun, But if custom suits you the diamond plate doesn't sound bad

Someone before me used pegboard, looked horrible. Since i am on a tight budget with this car i found a piece of bath paneling in his garage, it is like fiberboard with a nice white smooth finish. His had some scratches but i figured what the hell, i painted it gloss black "rustoleum" and other than the scratches it turned out awesome. I will post pics of the old and the new. Old is on the right and the one i made is on the left.

If your rear window is leaking, it will destroy the package shelf eventually. You might want to use some sort of plastic sheeting.

It's been a long time since my dad died (1988). He used to do the upholstery in all of his children's cars when they wanted it. They were the only ones he would work on that were post WW2. For example, he did a '32 Pierce-Arrow interior from pix that made 100 points on a concours d'elegance. I've had some seriously bad work done since then. I miss the old curmudgeon for more than upholstery, though.

I picked up some black fabric from a fabric store, made a new tray out of Davy Board and then wrapped it with the fabric. I cut out the holes for my speakers that will be installed and these will be underneath the tray in the trunk so nobody will see the speakers or the sound system that will be installed in the trunk. I put the original package tray away because it's in excellent condition but there was only one speaker hole and I need two. Lots of fabric choices out there and it's affordable.
