I am thinking of swaping out trans rear axle. does anyone have info needed to do this correctly? which rear axle fits? who's rear suspension link system works? I plan on keepeing my lowered rear springs and would like to say with the 5x5" bolt pattern.

I dont have dimensions but a couple I know of were done here in NZ using a Ford Lincoln 9 inch rear end, and maintaining the 5x5inch stud pattern.

The 56 was a Roadmaster and used the original torque tube trailing arms (modified mounts at front) and a 3rd link from the top of the rear axle housing to a modified front crossmember.

The 57 used a Lincoln rear end also but used a triangulated 4 bar mounting system.

I plan on converting my 56 Special also to a Ford rear end but dont yet know of any easy conversions without fabrication and engineering.
