How many people use the "request read receipt" function of the PM's? Also.. how many of you "deny" the receipts when you receive a PM? Not that it matters.... I'm just curious. :gt: I almost always deny the receipts, and never request them when I send a PM. o No:
????? Sorry, I don't really know what that is. I've seen it but didn't understand it and frankly haven't even been motivated to try. So what is it anyhow and what's it for?o No:
I rarely PM, but always request, and always allow, receipts. Its a convenient way to know that a PM is read and not missed.
I only request a receipt when the PM is mod related stuff... so I know the message is getting through.
I guess I don't really understand the point. Why wouldn't you want a receipt to know if your PM has been received and read? I thought it was a very nice feature.
I guess if not for any other reason, it would be to save space in my PM box. The receipts take up space, and we only get 75 (I think) message slots in the PM area. I'd rather fill those slots with meaningful PM's, not receipts that don't tell me anything. Other reasons... I almost always reply to PM's immediately. No sense sending a read receipt 5 minutes before replying. If I don't get an answer to a PM I send, I guess the member either doesn't want to reply to me, or hasn't had time to. A read receipt wouldn't answer which of the above is the reason for not getting a reply. So why bother with it. I'm certainly not lobbying for others to take my views. I was just curious how others felt about them. :beer I see 2 instances where the receipts are important/useful... 1- David mentioned it. For mods to insure that a member is getting their message. 2- If I feel I'm getting screwed on a deal with a member. I might want to see if they're reading my PM's. But in either instance, if the recipient denies the receipt, it didn't do any good to request it. o No:
