has anyone here done that them self? I got a seal kit coming for my 30+ year old Astroline Pneumatic 2 ton jack and wondering is it a straight forward job. I've never messed with one! I can do a lot of things but always worried I get in over my head and then wished I would of paid some one to have done it. I just found the drawings and schematics. thanks Fernando

I did my Sears floor jack awhile ago, pretty straight forward, biggest hurdle was disassembly of the frame work to get the cylinder out. Another hurdle was the big nut/cap on the cylinder, I went and bought a 3 foot long pipe wrench from Harbor Freight.
Mark did you have to mount the cylinder on a vise to get that big nut off? Just by looking at the jack, it looks like a pita to get the cylinder out. Thanks for the heads up. It might have to wait until I get back from BG. Fernando
Yes, I had the cylinder in my bench vice, I’m glad I bought the pipe wrench, it made short work of removing the nut/cap. The Jack body is kinda like a bolted together frame, try and keep as much of it “together” when removing the cylinder, and WATCH YOUR FINGERS! A lot of pinch points!! Here’s the pipe wrench I bought, well worth 23.00 I’ve used it multiple times on other stuff already.
A big wrench is pretty handy AND doubles as wall art in the garage while not in use. I clamped the cylinder to the tongue of my trailer for removal/install. As above, lots of youtube vids for instruction.
I have 2 Lincolns that need to be done. I also have 2 aluminum lightweights which I find much easier to use as I've gotten older. They are half the weight of the Lincolns. Somehow I don't think I'll get to resealing them.
I bought a cheapie from Auto Zone - it worked great for about a year, then started leaking. I'm not going to fix it, if it's having troubles so soon, it will never end. I think I'll chalk it up to experience and buy a good jack.
