I am in NJ and am considering sending out my bumpers, both for replating and the front for straightening as well. What are the costs like for this kind of work and what kind of results can I expect. Does anyone know of an outfit in the Philadelphia area that does this kind of work?

    Thanks....

Simply what may be the best in the east is Paul's Chrome outside of Pittsburgh -- I have seen their work --in a word - PERFECT !!!

The one thing i would recommend would be to send out the very best core you can. If your front is tweaked, bent or cracked, try and get one thats in better shape.

The recommended places are Keystone or Tri City. Good chrome is expensive. I bought a good quality rechromed front bumper from a board member for $660 shipped

Paul's is one of the best, last I checked about 6 years ago show chrome was around $600 apiece. I too would like to know of a Philly/Jersey place that is excellent. Other good place is Tri-City Plating of Tenn. Had two sets of bumpers done by them over the past few years but never to my liking on first shot. Good thing is they take them back and fix no problem. Bad is you waste shipping $. Best is to set up a deal with them and then drop off at a show like Carlise and possibly take home one you can eyeball. Ron

:Dou: Another thought, even though nobody listens to me, make sure they are straight and go back on the car straight before you send them out!

Hammertime does not make straight time!

X3...do it in 2 steps...straighten/fit THEN chrome. Front can get subtle bends from hit on point...or even tow truck sling...

Some people think that the rechrome shops have a jig by which they judge whether a bumper is straight. I have never seen a shop that does. They straighten these by eye with a dolly, hammer, press etc.

A bumper that fits well on my car my not be perfect for your car. So you have to tweak them to fit yopur car and then send these off. This is another reason that having the best core possible is a key to a good fit.

going to pick mine up at spring carlise, dropped them off in the fall to tri city at carlisle, saved on shipping that way. Also will inspect them real close before i take them so if not to my liking they can take them back but i`ve seen there work and i was real happy, 450 for the front and 460 for the rear.

    That's a super great price.
Sending my front out next Fall to a Canadian shop I've used before.
Very nice work, many, many Toonies to pay for it.
It will be in the $ 1000 range.

FYI Paul's quoted me 1000.00 per bumper and one of them was NOS. This did not include shipping

Have to be careful not to overdo the bumpers.

A $1k bumper looks out of place on a car, unless it has a $15k paint job.

NOS bumpers are not that great.

Well I happen to have a 15K paint job and my NOS bumper looked like crap next to a re chromed rear . Now that its done it looks fantastic. One good part about the NOS bumper is that its straight and rust free
