Re-chrome for smaller items. Head light bucket or fender gills

I talked to the local guy and he quoted $125 each to re-chrome the fender gills on a 67 skylark. There is usually a hazardous waste fee too so I reckon a pair will be $300 out the door. And that is for the side emblems, which are smaller than the headlight bucket.

I'm re-using my grille as the chrome was in pretty good shape, but the headlight bucket have some damage on the chrome surfaces.

So if YOU were a headlight bucket and wanted to be repaired and re-chromed, what would be a likely price and place to go?

These are shippable size but I would hate to send them off somewhere and they get put on a shelf for 4 months so good dependable shops would be tops for me.

    Thanks

They are pricey if pitted. Takes a lot of work.

I would love to learn how to do the prep. Do you use the low melting point alloys?

Drill enough to eliminate all the pitting, then silver solder and fine sand smooth as frog fur, then send of to the plater.

I would contact the plater and make sure they will accept the part, since they have no control over the repair.

I have actually heard of people using a dentist to drill and fill the pits. Good luck with that.
