Hey all I just bought a 70 GS 455 with a 3 speed manual on floor I guess they only made 66 of these in 1970 anybody have any info on this? would this be a rare car? Have original trans but different block Thanks
It's probably rare, but may not be very desireable. Still a nice car, though. I don't have any numbers for you.
Brian--277 if you count GS 350 cars. I count 101 if you are talking just GS 455 cars made in all plants. I included the GS 455 convertibles of which there were 19. So there were 82 GS 455 coupes with the 3 speed in the 70 model year.
Of the 82, 66 were non stage 1 cars and 16 were Stage 1 cars. http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/buick-gs/buick-gs-specs.shtml Is this the one that was in the CO / NE area?
Five to ten years ago I remember a guy in the UP of Michigan that had a 70 three speed stage 1 convertible for sale.
Yep, and it was Dick McDonald's, Alpena, Mi, not the UP! It was sold to the Easter Seals in Genesee County (Flint) for their raffle. The fellow that won it, well, wasn't too happy about having to pay the sales tax. I've lost track of it since. I drove it while they were selling tickets for the raffle. Fun car.. There's another one under restoration in MI too. Looking for the 3-speed linkage for the transmission. :Smarty:
Chris, I bought it from a guy in Sioux City Ia said he owned it for last 15 years. Glacier white/black vinyl roof Black buckets and floor consolette around shifter. She needs quarters and inners and outers and such. Did my 72 skylark in 2006-07 frame-off has GS hood and 455. Not sure what to do with this one yet!
2 of 1 . apparently the daily car reports were wrong accoring to Yoda. This the Green kleiner one or blue ? DL
Yep, same one, he had it on the Omaha/Council Bluffs CL this summer, I think he was at one time asking $8k, but then came down on his price.
My '70 GS 455 Conv. was origionally a 3-speed manual car with very few options. The 3-speed was replaced along time ago with a 4-speed though. There probably aren't alot of them left with the origional 3-speeds like yours. It should be a Muncie and I have read that they were pretty strong transmissions also. Mine was gone before I got the car. Ken
