i just purchased a rallye steering wheel kit from thepartsplace, in illinois.
the kit is complete with mounting hub, cap, steering wheel, etc..
i checked all the parts carefully and they are quality pieces!
however, partsplace lists the steering wheels as 15" and 14" . what they do not tell u is that they measure the wheel diameter from the centre of the rim, not the outside of the rim. thus, 15" is really 16" and 14" is really 15". i had to swap steering wheels because what i really needed was the 14" for my 72gs. this presented no problem at all with them.
now, when the weather improves, i will perform the install.

I just got mine installed and it is a nice piece. I thought the small wheel was unique to GSX.

I have purchased more than $2000 in parts from The Parts Place in the last 5 months on my rebuild. I have not gotten anything from them except really nice repros. And most of the guys working there are really nice and helpful.

They came with the car (clone), I hate 'em. Like yours much better.
Fake wood grain is not my thing I guess. If I wasn't going to sell the car
soon, I'd try to trade the interior panels for some nice all black ones and get rid of the dash wood grain too.:(

I just had the exact same experience! Bought the 15" thinkin' I was gettin' the 15". Called them and they swapped it for the proper 15". I'm happy now - looks great and the weather is supposed to get warmer tomorrow so I can install w/o frozen fingers.

Can you call them direct and use your credit card for purchases??

Sure you can or you can order on-line from their website with a card. I usually call them first to make sure the part is in stock and then order on the web. I like getting the order confirmation to my e-mail and also the tracking updates.

69-70 is the "big" wheel. 70 GSX has the first "small" wheel, with a GSX-specific thicker rim. 71-up sport wheel is the "small" wheel with a regular rim.

I do not think so. Are the grips on both their wheels the 71-72 style? I suspect neither of their wheeels has the 69-70 style grip with the so call thumb groove. Can you confirm this?

Your right Jim, I was at their store and the kit is the original 15 inch wheel. Might not be exact size but it's so close. The smaller one might be for a skyhawk? Maybe they just had a different supplier and they came out different sizes. SO far they have never posted a 70 repo wheel with the thumb groove
