Guys, We went to take a spin in my '72 GS yesterday. The top has been working perfectly. When I lowered the top it was sitting about 1 inch from fully retracted when someone gave it a down push. I didn't think anything of it until I went to raise the top and it wouldn't move. I manually pulled it the first two feet and then the power moved it the remainder. When it comes to troubleshooting what is wrong, what is the first item to check? Any advice? Thx, Lance
Have you tried to cycle it again? The manual push down probably pushed more fluid out of the cylinders to the pump and could have had a n air gap there. Once you helped it along, and the cylinders filled back up and it worked, you may be ok now. I would say run it up and down a couple times and see if it clears out. You may be low on fluid also.
Thanks very much for the tip. I helped it along one more time and then it started working again. After three cycles it is working normally. Excellent advice.
