On last weeks Dream Car Garage, Peter said the radio bezel was cheaper to buy than re-chrome. Anyone know who makes these new?
I don't think he meant that bezels are available as New. I think he was just making a comparison of how expensive it is to have a part rechromed, instead of just buying a bezel that's already in very nice condition.:Smarty: The bezels are not available as new, that I'm aware of, but I know someone who has contacted some manufacturing companies about them, and is just waiting to hear back from them...:Brow::TU:o No:
Wait a sec... chrome?? Radio bezel? The "bezel" is the plastic piece that the radio face sticks out of in your dash. Not chrome that I know of, unless the 70's are? 68/69 are not chromed. Maybe you're talking about the face of the radio?
David, You have to stop thinking in '68/'69 terms! The '70 radio bezels were Black with a Chrome upper face. As the '70-'72 bezels are becoming more obsolete from guys hacking them up for modern radio installations, or from breaking due to age, they're only getting more expensive to Replace or to Repair!:Smarty: At $50 for a USED '70 radio bezel, it's still cheaper than spending $80-$100 to have one rechromed! I'm trying to design an alternative, that would be cheaper, similar to original, and allow a modern radio installation, I'm just waiting for the approval. :Smarty:
The Dream Car Garage guy was probably talking or thinking about a Chevelle radio bezels which are availible new and are cheaper than having a used one rechromed.I f he was talking about a Buick radio bezel then he was dreaming for sure!
David, Rusty just taught me to stop thinking BUICK! I completely forgot about Chevelles, and he's probably right!:TU::laugh:
