65WILDKAT A PROUD FATHER OF THREE!

I am trying to locate a radiator for my 65 Wildcat...The question is this: On what side does the bottom hose connect to ? The shop that I went to and bought one from it has the bottom hose connecting on the Left (facing the motor) hand side? and my water pump out let is facing to the right(facing the motor) I am not sure which side is right? Or do they use a longer hose to return the water to the radiator?:Do No:

    Thanks for any help,

I don't know about "65, but the '66 used a reversed crossflow radiator, unique to a Buick. The radiator exchange parts lists have them listed wrong, and will try to sell you one that fits the '67.

If you have a vertical radiator, then that's a different story. The crossflow (horizontal) has the lower hose connecting to the driver's side on a '66 that's all I know. The upper has as well goes to the passenger side. :bglasses:

here is a .jpg file of pics swiped from the modine .pdf catalouge.
it might give you some idea of what you are dealing with.

if you want the modine fitment pdfs (1.3 and 4.6 megs) shoot me an email at itsyuk@aol.com and make the heading say "radiator" and i will email you the whole radiator section.
if you want the condensor and heater core sections and updates...they will be about 8 more attachments covering 87kb to 2.5 meg ...they are very helpful when dealing with old cars.:TU:

There's the mistake I was referring to........they have a 430 listed for '66 (7.0 Liter). The 7 liter motor in '66 was the 425 Nailhead. That is the wrong radiator, I ordered it once and it is for a '67 and up 430.:spank:

i see what you are saying ....

a big benefit of a crossflow is that the cap is usually on the same side as the lower hose.... as the engine idles, the lower hose helps keep pressures low to negative when removing a hot cap and in turn lessens the chance of you getting blasted (safer). ...also, when filling the crossflow rad while the motor is running you can get less air in the system.

was the reversed crossflow fitted with a cap on the drivers side?

The '66 crossflow radiator is the mirror image of the later models...... the tranny cooler, radiator cap, and lower hose are all on the driver's side of the car.

A fird radiator may fit with some mods, but if you look around you can find used Buick tanks that a radiator shop can re-core and if they use good quality materials it will be good as new.:bglasses:

I frankly don't know what's in the '65..........but I'm watching and when I see one I will look for you. Yours may have been the "downdraft" style (vertical). Somebody on here must know. :bglasses:
