My manual shows a hose just going to the ground, that doesn't really work for me as I have dogs, cats and assorted critters roaming around. Anybody ever use one of the 70's repo tanks on a 69? Obviously I'm not real concearned about it being correct but I think one of the repo ones would look better than a generic aftermarket one.
    Thanks,
    Matt

Matt the repro will work. The only thing I've noticed is the a/c hoses would have to be moved if desired. Frank

Matt, the 70-72 repros work just fine on a 68/69 GS/Skylark. And they look damn nice too! Great job on these, Frank. :TU:

I have a copy of a Service Bullitin somewhere that authorized the fitting of the 1970 overflow bottle to the 68&69 model cars. Includes part numbers and mounting instructions. I guess this would be a factory authorized modification. If I can dig it out I'll scan it for you.

Greg, That would be great. I,m somewhat of a novice and the more instructions I can get my hands on the better.

I would love to see that too! We all know the 70 tank "works" on the earlier cars, and is a necessary modification if you want to go racing (and still look somewhat stock), but it would be awesome to see a factory document stating that this was an "authorized" modification.

I agree. I installed one in my '68. Would be nice to add to my documentation. How about posting a .pdf of it for us?

I didn't even realize it until now, but there are 2 pieces of documentation and I happen to have them both. One is a service bulletin and the second is called a P and A Product Information Bulletin. Of course my scanner is acting up, but I took some pictures of the pages.

If anyone can actually attach the pictures I'll happily send them to you.

For years I've used an extra Windshield washer fluid jug mounted to the pass inner fender.

...There was actaully a specific overflow "kit" sold for 69's - they look exactly like the generic $9.99 one you buy at any auto parts store with the wire wrap around bracket. Looks so cheesy I wouldn't put it on my car... :puzzled:

I'll take pictures and post them too

    Greg,

Could you please email me those pictures, full sized? I'm trying to get a 8x11 print for my folder of GS stuff and it comes out unreadable. I'll repost it here in PDF.

Where did you come up with this? I have the Rare Dealer Bullentins, Guide to the GS, Assembly Manual, and the Service Manual, it's not in there.

    Thanks,

    Rich

Rich, Years ago I bought a supposedly complete set of 1970 service bulletins at a swap meet. It was missing several '70 pages but had a bunch of stuff from 1969 through 1972 including some Opel stuff. I have factory paint codes and key codes and warentee stuff from '69-'72. I've got a few other cool bits (Authorized tach install in a 1970 Skylark/Sportwagon for example) I'll post once I get my scanner fixed and/or replaced.
