Engie- The 1970 radiator isolators are different than the 71-72 type for the three core. The 70 isolators locate the radiator slightly differently. The 70 fan shroud will not fit flush to the radiator top plate if the 71-72 ones are used. Also there are two different numbers in each case for left and right. See this thread.
rad pads I need pads for a 1966 skylark gs had the rad recored from a three to a four core but used the same side tanks. checked cars inc. could find nothing that looked like mine.thanks for any help
Steele Rubber has them for a '66, but they are pricey at $27 each! Look in the 'Bumper and Grill' section. http://166.82.96.9/homeframes.html or www.Steelerubber.com They also have listings for '70 Skylarks...dunno if they're correct for you tho.
Well I just got the rad. cushions in today from Steel Rubber products and they are not right. They will go back. I looked on the Cars Inc. web site and they do not show them. This car of mine loves to test me but I will win.
Pat- Im not sure if isolators from another brand will interchange or not. Thats a good question. If they are for a 70 GSX and your runnung a three core rad with a 70 fan shroud, you will need at least two of part #s 1387423 and 1387422. These locate the radiator correctly so the 70 shroud bolts up to the top plate properly. And believe me,they were tough to find. I dont believe anyone repros the correct ones. Best bet would be to get two used ones from a parts car. I got one from Bruno and one from Dustin. The bottom isolators arent as critical, so the 71-72 part number will work.
Ok I went on Steel Rubber web site again and they show the correct cushions so I decided to check to see what they sent me and they sent the wrong ones, so I should have the right ones on Monday. I will report back.
