When I was racing at Salem, was running into what felt like fuel problem going down the track. Acceleration slowed after the 1/8. I was running on about 1/4 tank. Where do you run at. Full, 3/4, etc. Just curious. Think I'll make this a poll.
Gas tank level. This is the way that I see it.  I run at least 5/8 of a tank. It is movable ballast. When I hit the gas the contents move to the back of the tank, assisting in weight transfer. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.:TU:
I vote full I start the day with the tank (fuel cell) full, and where it ends up at the end of the day, well I have never checked! Last weekend racing, I dialed 10.7 at the start of the day, and it was still 10.7 in the final. I don't think 12 gallons of gas means that much when the car weighs 3500 pounds. Just my .02 Jim
Mike, I seemed to allways have to run a minimum 1/2 tank at all times racing with a stock tank, the fuel goes to the rear, and the pickup tube is closer to the front, and bottom of tank. Bruce
Mike It is the same as we say when flying, " The only time you can have too much fuel on board is when you are on fire."
Fill 'er up I usually drive to the track on the 93 unleaded and put in 5 gallons or so of avgas. This gives me pretty near a full tank. The best 60' I ever ran was a 1.90 on street tires, and I had my daughter and her friend in the back seat (maybe 200 pounds total) so I figure the weight of the gas probably helps traction.
Mike I have the same problem , just before the finish line if I run the tank at at only 1/4 full the car will run out of fuel and nose over. Fuel all goes to back of tank. I can put 1/2 tank in it for next pass and it is fine. First time it happened took a while to figure out what was wronge, but know I know I just keep it at1/2 tank.
Thanks guys. This is exactly what I was looking for. I wonder how many guys have replaced their fuel pump when the problem is just not enough gas in the tank. Based on this, I'll be at least 3/4 full next time to be on the safe side.
