Go onto the bench and post your location and a greeting to any Buick guys/gals in your area! Once you have a few eyes looking for a ready to drop in 455 you'll be set.

However, you said you want good fuel milage so don't even think about a 455 if you really do require decent fuel milage.....

I dont get good gas milage out of my 350...I cant keep my foot out of it. i just love to be on a four lane and someone pull beside me and look at my car. and then i get the for barrell to kick in :3gears: ... i wanna go ride around now just thinking about it... but you think i can find some Buick people nice enough to help a newbie drop an engine in? cause i am really new at this. but and im not questioning anyones ability on here. my dad is gonna be all like well are they a real mechanic blah blah. but I know why.he lost his 1970 Chevelle SS like that. Him and one of my aunts old boyfriends ripped apart his 396 to rebuild it. and after they got it taken apart. the guy up and moved to another state two days later :Dou: .so i still might have to pay for it done . I hope it wont be to much.

Okay- I left this thread alone because I saw where it was going. So, I'll tell you what I know- going back to my original statement regarding what is in this other kids 240. You're right, up to a certian year (1990 in the states, I believe, I don't quite remember because I lived in Tokyo, doing engine swaps in Nissans) the KA24DE was the same engine used in hardbody pick-ups. Then cam the twin cam in 90 or 91. Turbocharging out of a box could be done, turn key, correctly for around 5K. The SR20 can be swapped in for about the same. The RB26 (depending on the year) motor can be purchased, and installed in a 240, with a single or twin turbo, done correctly, in the United States, for around 20K. I know this, because I do this. Let the 240 go, don't race, it isnt worth the time or the gas.

it all depends on your mechanical aptitue and your ability to remember where stuff goes, helped by baging parts as removed and the beauty of digital cameras oh and labeling of parts. photos can be taken in removal order and repeat the process in reverse. nearly all if not all the wiring will be the same (points to HEI a little diffrent). starter wires same way, ground mounts the same way, plumbing is the same. (diffrent radiator hoses perhaps) and trans mount if changing the trans.

It is really easy to swap motors but its building them thats the art. Let us help tune up your car as is and then you can go from there. If you want a Buick 455 you can have one for cheep, just have to look. Buy or rent a hoist and bolt together.

Did you say you're only 15? And you're driving, taunting people on the highway... Hm.

with my dad in the car of course :pp ...my mom wont even get in the car with me:Do No: . its the south. i've been behind the wheel since before i could reach the pedals. and after i could i was always behind the wheel on the back roads (gravel roads, or paved roads in the country). but since me driving or steering that very first time since i was about 3 or 4 my mom has yet to get in the car with me. and my dad said it will be another 12 or 13 years until she does :idea2: ... and four lane around here isnt what most of you guys call a highway. lol . our four lanes would probably small town roads for some of you guys.

Ah yes I remember when I was 15...... I had already rebuilt my first engine. A 340 in my 66 lesaber 4 door. I daydreamed and poured over the Kenne Bell catalog. Then I bought a 1968 Wildcat and built up the 430 in it(way too much cam and not very favorable gears). That was 25 years ago and my last buick until I found my skylark.
Hey, you should probably take that 350 out and start working on it right away. You will learn alot along the way and those pesky 240sx drivers can rest easy for a few years........

Just to show you, here's an engine that is on the board right now. It's in New York, but it runs and is only $225. I do believe it's already sold though. http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=130811

But it wouldn't be hard to score a running engine. And if you have the engine and mounts and throttle cable and radiator hoses and a cherry picker ready, I'd bet money that two of the guys on this board who have pulled an engine would be able to come over, pull your engine and put the 455 in the car in a day no sweat. If you were closer to me, I'd come over and help. I'd even have brought my cherry picker!

I'm counting in my head and it's only about 12 bolts to get the engine away from the trans and engine mounts. Then drain the radiator and remove. Disconnect the alternator, remove the ps pump, disconnect the pb vacuum line, disconnect the throttle cable and out she'll come. Have lunch. Then put the 455 in and start the process in reverse.

oh if only things ever went that smoothly......... I believe it took me 3 or 4 hours and lots of swearing just to get the bolts up through the cross member and into the aluminum conversion frame pads. It probably wouldnt be that much trouble if you dropped the suspension out the bottom...... more time.

20k!? I saw a GN for 10K over the weekend. I could buy it and drop the other 10k into the engine/drivetrain. Heck, I could build a turbo'd 350 for that money. They must really love the 240SX to go the RB26DETT route. Not that I don't understand that sort of thing. :)

I just read all of that idiot's bragging. 9s? I don't think so.

As was said, ignore the punk. The fact you were with "his woman" first must really intimidate and disturb him.

OMFG! What a moron! It pisses me off just reading about it. I can't imagine having to put up with it first hand. GOOD LUCK gettin 9's with a mere addition of an over priced HKS manual boost controller. (I spent $5.98 at the hardware store and made my own boost controller to make 17 lbs. with a stock T3. It worked awesome LOL) AND it's impossible to spool two turbos with a tiny sr20det to make 25lbs. It's a volumetric impossibility! What a dork!

600-900hp! PLEASE! HA HA HA ha ha ha hahahahahahaha hahaaaaaaa......

I'm actually starting to feel some pity for this guy. He's obviously got a serious inferiority complex. Maybe he was picked last a lot... Poor kid.

I'm tired from laughing. I'm going to bed.
