Quick question?

    Ok, guys , help me out here. My starter came seperate from the engine, and i'm missing the bolts.. what size do I need. 74' 455 BBB. Figured this would save me a little time... Any help would be swwwwwwwwwweeeeeet....

    I love this site, it's become my second home....

    The two bolts are 3/8" X 4 5/8" and 3/8" X 1 7/8" The starter bolts are specific bolts. They have a bunch of serations that run the direction of the bolt shaft for starter alignment. I have used regular bolts before, but I just happened to have these so I use them.

    You need to get grade 8 bolts and I believe the thread is 3/8-16.

    George, why do you recommend Grade 8 when the originals are only Grade 5? Have you seen normal 5's fail?

    Some of the cars had an additional brkt that bolted to the block. Grade 8 is not much more than 5 and well worth it.

    a little more help.

    Sorry, i feel like i'm using yall for your knowledge... Off hand does anyone know Exhaust Manifold bolts. 2 on end are broke off and must be machined i fear... this again is for 74 buick455

    Thanks once again..... I promise i am learning something and keeping it all in a notebook for next time..

    The exhaust bolts are 3/8-16. No problem on the info, there's a lot of guys with a lot of Buick info on this site!
