OK, I went out and got a 6AL today. I think I've got it all figured out. Just one question:

In the instruction it shows the red wire from the Pertronix system hooking up to the red in the MSD harness and then continuing on the the ignition key. Is this the pink wire coming out of the factory harness that is currently hooked the to positive (+) terminal of the coil??

Once I get that figured out, I'll mount this sucker behind the battery, run the wires between the inner and outer fenders, black wrap all the wires and "merge" them with the factory harness at the firewall. I even painted the 6AL black to better hide it. No one will ever know.

    Thanks.

    Phil,
The small red wire from the msd is the turn on lead. All it does is turn on the box. The + coil wire gets connected to the MSD red wire. Do you still have the resistance wire in the harness? I believe MSD says you do not need to replace it. If you have replaced it, you now have 12 volts at the coil + with the ignition switch on, engine off. If you haven't, you have more like 5.5-6 volts. That may be enough to turn the box on. If not, just run a separate wire from the fuse box that has 12 volts with the ign. switch on.

Huh? I have a new harness from YearOne. all I have is the pink wire coming from the harness that hooks to the positive on the coil.

    Phil,
As long as it gets 12 volts when you turn on the ignition. If you have a voltmeter(if you don't borrow one ), hook the red lead to the pink wire, the black lead to an engine ground, and turn the ignition switch on. The meter should read 12 volts. If so hook your pink coil wire to the red MSD wire and you're ready to rock and roll. If the pink wire is the only wire on the + side of your present coil, then that's the one for sure. Go for it.

Yea, the only wires on the positive side of coil was the pink one and the red one from the Pertronix unit. Those two are supposed to hook up to the red of the MSD unit. I gave MSD a call (found their 800 number) and they confirmed what I thought. Thanks again.
