I am rebuilding an engine and was wondering if it is okay to re-use an old roller cam, it looks to be in good shape, and just replace the roller lifters, is that okay? Was wanting the opinions of some more experienced people. Thanks.

I was told that you could re-use roller cams as they don't wear like traditional flat-tappet cams.

If the cam is straight you can reuse the cam with no problems. On my race stuff,I think one camshaft has had 3 or four sets of lifters on it. The lifters are the wear item in our situation. Ours tend to mash the needle bearings in the Jesel lifters . Our trick is to catch them before they break loose and get in the motor.
Anyway, check the cam for straightness and run it.
    Hope this helps

Wait a minute . Are we talking about a solid roller (billet core)or are you building one of your fords? I just noticed your signature.

Thanks. That was pretty much the response I was getting from some local guys. Thanks again.
