I am considering buying a non A/C 68 convertible and have a 69 HT parts car. I would like to use the A/C components and doors from the 69 if possible. 1. Will a 69 HT door fit a 68 convertible? 2. Will a 69 HT A/C set up transfer into a 68 convertible? 3. Assuming #2 is feasible how difficult is the process? 4. Is the dash pocket the same ? i.e. transfer the 69 to the 68. Thanks, Patrick
a 68 would be a vent window car where as a 69 is not for the doors. the A/C should swap except a 68 has dial controls where as a 69 as slide controls. the fire wall opening wis different for a A/c car vs a non-A/C car.
1) Fit, Yes. As mentioned, all 68's had vent windows, while only the '69 GS Cali/Colo/Carolina had vent windows in the 2-door model 2) I dont see why not. 3) ?? Considering you have the donor car, you *should* have all the necessary parts. I've never done a conversion....but they cant be fun. 4) Dash Pocket - do you mean the hole for the Instrument cluster ?? If so, YES, Same size opening. Same Bezel, different environ. controls (both AC and NonAC) and different speedo unit. Wiring from dash to AC Fan control and vacuum lines for flapper doors are going to be a bit of the headache.
Greg/Alan Thanks for the reply. Can I put everything from the 69 into the 68? i.e. controls, vacuum lines, dash pad, fire wall hardware? Thanks, Patrick
