does anyone have any info on holley 3310-3 primary metering blocks. right now the one i have in the carb has the part number 5615 but i have others laying around that i have pulled off of the same model carb but they have different part numbers. i cant find all of them at the moment but here is another one with this part number 10959. i can see that they have slightly different size orifaces or holes in some locations while the other one doesnt have these same holes. I believe the 5615 one was off of a 600 or 650 carb. i think i used that one cause originally i was trying to narrow the passageway with a small piece of wire to lean it out but it ran like crap and a friend of mine had abunch of parts including that metering block which had smaller holes so i swapped that one in and the car ran real great, super throttle response and all andbetter gas mileage. but i want to know my options or how the different blocks may perform.

Well, it looks like you already solved the problem,,,, But you can call holleys tech line and they will tell you what blocks your particular carb uses.... I dont like putting wires in my carbs,,, what I do is drill the idle air bleed restrictions out just a fraction at a time untill I make it idle leaner.... but like holley says this is a last resort ,,,, use a vacume gage or a tach and determine if you can make the engine rpm drop with the idle mixture screws... if you can, then the carb can be leaned out or richened by adjustment alone....:Brow: a mistake that a lot of guys make, is to not have the engine fully warmed up before starting to make adjustments.... another is trying to adjustments on the carb when the engine has vacume leaks.....or the ign. system is not right....
