It never seems to end with this thing, one thing after another--- and I havent even raced it ONCE!!
I found out my problem to my drivers side head was whoever polished it must not have been paying attention or was a lil too over zealous in their work. There is a pinhole in one of the intake valves right into the water jacket. Recooping my $ is a lost cause, but I still need to get it fixed. I took it to one of the most reputable places in town to have it welded and they told me it will be upwards of $275. <GRRRR> Okay, fix it. Then he goes on to tell me that after he works on it he will have to take "4 or 5 thousandts off the deck"--- WHAT?!?
Okay, I understand the reasoning, but whats that going to do to my engine, will it throw compression balance between the banks off?? Do I need to have the OTHER head taken off and .004 taken off of it??
Im losing patience at this point and wondering what could have been had (less trouble and more horsepower) for less $$$ had I originally opted to go with another brand of car 8 years ago.... but I guess my real question at this point, to you fella's, is do I need to take the other head in to have it shaved? If its a matter of 'what am I going to do with it'-- I would like to add one of the XS Performance set ups on it over the course of the next year ot two and dream of touching 11's in a very streetable car.

    Losing patience..... Leon

cray1801 Too much is just right.

Leon, don't worry about 0.005" it's relatively insignificant for your application (in my opinion) :)

I wouldn't worry about it either!! A .004"-.005" cut is just an 'educated guess' as far as skim coats go. Most heads will clean up at that level.
