I installed a HEI distributor that has a Accel Cap and Coil. Now my GS Air Cleaner will not fit. The driver's side air scoop hits the coil and it will not fit correctly. Has anyone ran into this problem. Someone told me to buy a spacer. I purchased one and this did not work since the Air Cleaner is heavier where the scoops are. Any suggestions? I don't really want to buy a new air cleaner.

    Thanks,
    Steve

u may have to install the coil in another location , at worst on the fender liner .

The only real solution is to unbolt the bucket on the bottom of the scoop on that side. Using that as a template, you might be able to fabricate something in metal and fibreglass to clear the HEI. Moving the coil will have no effect on the height and size of the HEI cap, so that won't work. I would have a points distributor converted to magnetic pick up, and use an MSD box, or trigger an MSD with points. I wouldn't use an HEI unless I had no other choice.
