Question for Mechanics - 1995 Buick SC3800

My sister has a Park Ave, and the supercharger was replaced recently. Right after the replacement, the heat on the passenger side of the car (dual zone) works sporadically (actually, it mostly blows cold). Sometimes this can be cured by removing the battery ground (recommended by the mechanic who did the supercharger), but the problem appears again the following morning, or even the next time the car is started.

Anyone know what's going on? Is something loose?

    Thanks!

    Try this...

... I've had it work a few times.

Underneath the hush panel on the passenger side should be 2 seperate heater programmers (driver's and passenger's). Unplug each connector for a few seconds.

Sometimes after a loss of battery power, these things forget and have to relearn how to communicate with each other. I've had to do this a few times even after clearing stored trouble codes.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

    Thanks Dwayne!

Any digital pictures so I know what wires I'm pulling out?

I'll see what I can find, but you should see the connectors fairly easily when you remove the hush panel. The programmers have the temperature control rod attached to them. Just unplug the connector(s) to the programmers.

    Marco,

Sorry, all I could come up with is scanning the illustration from a service manual. The connector is #7 in the drawing.

    Thank you Dwayne :TU:

I'll probably see her this weekend and I'll let you know if it works.

I hope it works for you. I should go back and edit the first post. There is only one programmer. The memory is not what it used to be.

    Sorry for the late reply...

I found the plug (per the diagram - thanks again Dwayne), did the 'pull and plug', and the heat still doesn't work all the time. Now, however, the temperature 'blinks'.

The mechanic keeps telling her the heater door needs to be oiled, but something is telling me it's because the battery was disconnected.

Anyone know what else to look at next?

    Thanks!

There is no "oiling" the heater door. I guess what my next step would be checking to see if the blend door actuator (little gear reduced motor) is working. They are a weak point on the Buicks and Chevy's. Should be behind the glove box on the right side.

Here is a pic from a Lincoln I think....looks real similar to it.

    temperature control head

the fact that the battery was disconnected & the reconnected could have damaged the unit . this is a known problem in the regals as the temperature control heads are very sensitive to power changes . in my 98 gs , the head was replaced under warranty & i believe that it is bad again .

Marco, you have to check to see if there are any codes in the memory of the climate controller. That is the reason your display blinks. There is a procedure to get the codes.
