Hey guys (Carl, Marco, and anyone else with ported manifolds from Gessler or someone else),

What are you using for your exhaust manifold gaskets to not restrict the flow? Are you using stock ones? Did you get modified ones from somone else? :Do No:

Any info would be helpful, the ones I have are not allowing me to take full advantage of the porting.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

We (OK, actually Rob Chilenski) used a stock replacement set.

Of course, if everything is straight, you don't need the gaskets (like the factory).

    Chris,
The thing to ensure is that the manifold or header is equal or larger than the exhaust port outlet on the head. Normally, the exhaust port outlet is not enlarged on a stage1 head. If your manifolds are not milled flat, use gaskets (I like Fel-pro), Make sure that the gasket is larger than head exhaust port outlet. The Fel-pro's seem to work fine in this respect.

    Here is some more info:

I had Greg mill my manifolds -this way no gaskets are used and they don't leak.

I've got a question. Does milling the manifolds alone work? In other words, if I'm not rebuilding the engine, and therefor not touching the heads - just trying to seal the manifolds.

I'd think the heads are dense enough to stay "straight," but am not sure.

    Thanks Greg!

The exhaust manifolds have been milled flat (Thanks to Carl :TU: ), not sure about the heads. Rick Henderson is helping me out and he is going to give her a shot and see if he can get it sealed.

    Thanks to all!

You are welcome,Chris. I would not touch the heads for milling the exhaust surface. The heads are more than strong enough and never ever warp.Glad that everything is progressing well for you. :TU:
