I have a 74 Nova and will be putting a 350 buick in it for my stepson. Are the frame pads the same as the Skylark or what should i use?

The subframe of the Nova and the subframe of the Apollo are the same. both will have the correct holes predrilled in them to accept the pads for the motor mounts. When installing a 455, the top two bolt holes line up for use with the pads, as they do when replacing a 350 Chebby with a 455 in a Surburban. The same top two holes and the single bottom hole should mate up with the Buick 350 pads for the 350 Buick motor mounts that are used in the Skylarks. Always leave your pads a little loose when installing for the first time to allow the motor to self-aline as you are installing it. After it is settled down, tighten the pads. You may have to lift the motor back up to tighten all of the pad bolts correctly. Your turbo 350 trans (switched out to the BOP bolt pattern) will continue to be in the same location. No driveshaft modification needed.
Good luck, and enjoy the looks on everyones faces when they see the Buick under the hood. :eek2:

Yep, John. That was Marvin's red apollo at Salem. Great car. How is the 350 coming along? Find out what was wrong with it?

had everything pressure tested for $380(ouch) and the intake manifold was warped .015. no amount of silicone was going to seal that. ask the kid, lol
going back together now. hope to run at lebanon valley next sunday for shakedown and 'depends' for the kid.

Yes, I was at Salem. And the 455 is only moved 1" to the right for additional header clearence due to the cars being a "rear steer". (the off-set weight transfer didn't hurt either) I also set the motor a little lower to help with the clearence of the scatter shield over the transmission. When building a race car, build it so you can work on it. Think about all the bolts that will be hard to get to after completion and look for ways to improve your ability to remove and replace them quick and easy. Use the same thought process when setting up any project.

On a side note, there are no headers currently available for these cars (Buick 350 in a 73,74 X-body). You can get headers for a 75,76 Skylark and modify #3 and #5 cylinders pipes.

    Good luck!
