Question for a 67 Riviera GS owner.....

As some of you know, I make a replacement spring steel hood insulation strap for the 67 GS400 and Riviera GS models that use the GS "star-wars" air breather. Up until yesterday I thought the straps were identical for both cars. Now I have found out that the Riviera strap is shorter than the GS400 strap. My problem is, I do not have a 67 Riviera GS strap to measure to find out how much of a difference there is (the GS400 strap I used as a pattern is approximately 19-3/16" long).
Would it be possible for a member here with a 67 Riviera GS to remove and measure the strap on their car and pass along the dimensions to me so I can make the correct length straps for the Riviera owners that need them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Randy

I emailed you... click on my name in my signature to email me on my Gmail. I receive a lot of email on my Yahoo account and I don't look at it everyday.

Thanks Phil. I new you were out there somewhere. Great pics of your car in the "Show us your Riviera's" thread. I certainly appreciate the help on the strap info, Randy

    Hi Randy,

I just emailed you the information.

Mine is 1" wide, approximately 19 1/4" long (including the 1/4" tabs at both ends).
Each ends are bent on a 1/2" section before the retaining tab.

Phil, here are a couple of pictures of the hood straps I make. One is painted and one is plain. The picture showing the strap under the hood is one I got off another website. It is a Riviera hood, with what looks to be aftermarket insulation, and if you look close, the strap bows out away from the insulation in the center. It might be because of the thickness of the insulation, but I don't know for sure. I sent a reply to your email. Let me know if you want to try one of the straps out. Later, Randy

Phil, do you think the hood strap would fit better against the insulation if it was shortened a little? Maybe 1/4" to as much as 1/2"? Let me know, Randy
