On the 71 centurion that's at the yard here there's a big cylinder located behind the lights on the driver's side, in the compartment in front of the inner fender. It looks like it has been mounted on stock brackets. One on each side, screwed into the front panel that holds the light cups. There's also a plastic horn loacted there, Looks like a miniature of those loudspeakers the cops speak into. I didn't see a connection between them, the only cable from the cylinder which was rounded on one side went back into the firewall. I first thought it was an aftermarket horn, but if it has anything to do with the cylinder, it looked like it sat on brackets meant to be there, but the horn doesn't look stock, and it's only one there. Any ideas? The cylinder is a little bit bigger than a half liter water bottle.

Maybe it's the vacuum-operated compressor for the Automatic Level Control.
That's where it's located in my 75 Electra. There are no wires that conect to it. Only a vacuum hose and a white plastic high pressure line that goes to the height valve at the rear.

I have pictures that barely show mine, they are quite bad... One shows the yellow cap over the regulator.

One of the pics also shows a part the trumpet horn of the 4 note horns. (at right) the horn itself is made of pot metal but the trumpet is made of plastic. The trumpet isn't visible on this pic since it passes under the standard horns. The 4th horn is mounted inside the fender and is hard to see. It looks like the two standard horns but is a bit bigger.

This is a picture of my 67 trumpet horn. It's easier to see on this car since it's mounted under the hood... The horn itself is very similar to the 71-75 horn but the trumpet part is made of pot metal instead of plastic and has a slightly different shape.

It was hard to tell from the first pics but it makes sense. I don't recall seeing a high pressure hose though. It just had a cable connected at the end going back to the firewall. The horn is not a metal four note trumpet, it's probably an aftermarket thing. I'll take another look on Friday, hopefully it's still there.

Grab it! The trumpet horn for the 4-not horn setup is plastic. Make sure you get the other horn tucked up under the drivers side fender.

No, I would grab it. Its a SUPER RARE HORN OPTION. Not even mentioned in the brochures or any literature. I think its option code BS!

Ha ha... I'm having problems with the horns as it is. Maybe I should disconnect a few, or chase down a bad wire. It sometimes comes on, sometimes not.
