    Hey,

since last year I have my 68 Riviera with the 430.
As the carb is really dirty I wanted to rebuild them. Today I checked the Carb number to buy
the right rebuild kit and now my manual shows me the carb is for a 350.

My Carb has the Cast no: 770282440 A KA
But also has a rebuild label "778AA, 2447-186120 Factory Remanufactured by Holley"

Somebody knows about the rebuild label? Is it possible that they rebuild it to the 430 carb specs?

If not is it easy to check the parts? What is the difference and what wll happen woth the right carb (More HP?)

Engine is stock and not at best condition but ran at best 15,77

The Holley rebuilt Q-Jets are junk. I had 3 of them installed on my 1980 Chevy van, and none ever ran correctly. All of the reman Q-Jets are built to pass emissions tests, and that's as far as they'll go.

Go to Ken's site and he'll fix you up with the correct unit.

    Hey

Got no reply yet from Ken.

But today I remove the carb from the car and got a shock.
Seems that some expert use a universal gasket which stand direct in the carb....

I will rebuild the carb by myself now.

I put a factory replacement 1970 GS 350 carb on my 464 w a jet change up one size and secondary metering rods. Car ran dynamite till the day the carb just fell on its face. Never opened it as I had modded it for my original 350 engine. 464 is lower vacuum at 13” and it ran better than the couple I had built for it from 455 qjet cores.
Will contact Ken and see if he can fix my latest qjet I had built.
Good luck w yours guys. They have the best drivability when working right.

Ken did a great job on mine. I'd send him another one any time.

As an aside, I put over 80 miles on the car a couple Saturday's ago and it barely used a little over an 1/8th of a tank.

There's a reason GM used these carbs across the board for so many years.
