Quadrajet and Other Carb Questions...

    The spreadbore plate won't work on a Buick (4 hole)intake. It will work with other intakes though. If you want to keep a completely stock setup, your options are very limited..

    Without having a stock 4-hole intake in front of me, is there any chance of hogging out the flange to match the spreadbore plate pattern?

    I bet you could do this. Sounds easy enough, as long as the intake is off the motor.:TU:

    I had that same idea as well, so I got a 4bbl intake off a '75 350 in a buddy's demo car. Thought i'd try on that before ruining my '71 intake. Guess we'll see. :puzzled:

    Sure. I've seen one hogged out but wasn't around to see it run.It would be easier to drill and tap two holes in the back of the carb though.

    Some of the street stock dirt classes around here have to run "stock" intakes on their engines, and they also grind the snot out of them. One coworker said his dad had 60 hours in grinding his manifold, but it flowed crazy amounts of air. :eek2: I guess stock is a relative term.
