Yes. The carb covers the holes as well as the stainless heat shield. I'll try to mock them up tomorrow and take a couple of pictures to post. Ed
I don't really need another set, I have two OE sets and one set of Moon "no-name" covers. Are they the '64/'65 or '66 style? We each pay actual S&H on what we're receiving? If you think you can repair the one with the broken ear, I'll sell it cheap.
Thanks but i'm not interested in dealing with any cast iron welding and machining. that intake would be too expensive if it were free.
Bidding Ended - $510 - Reserve not met... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0Q...emZ330609135761QQsspagenameZSTRKQ3aMEWAXQ3aIT
That's crazy. I've bought 2 NOS service replacement carbs for $265 each. Seller was Johnsons Speed Warehouse or J*S*W. Manifolds bring maybe $150.
Think I still have a manifold with carb stashed in the garage--show me $510 and see if it meets my reserve! John :beers2:
No, they're needed for my cars. You could try calling Johnsons Speed Shop to see if they have any more. The phone number is in their eBay listings. Search seller J*S*W or J*S*S.
Here's a 66 Q-Jet Core up for Grabs -- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0Q...emZ190576213387QQsspagenameZSTRKQ3aMEWAXQ3aIT He doesn't list the number, tho it is a '66 original or replacement carb....
There's a few bits and pieces missing off that one, the internal choke linkage is gone (as well as the flap) and the rod from the diaphram to the secondaries is gone. Looks like a good builder if the needle and seat set up can still be modified and if that diaphram still works. If you're looking for a nice 66 only carb, make sure that diaphram is in good shape before buying it; They are cast in the body of the carb, - as far as I know (I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm wrong) there are no replacements for those, and no parts available for them. The 67 carb is the same size and "footprint" on the manifold, but the linkage is different and they went to a divorced diaphram which is still serviced.
By diaphram do you mean the vacuum pull off??? Not to sure if there available for the 66 unit.... i know the 67 and up still are.. Cliff Ruggels or Greg Gessler would be able to tell you if the older parts are still available or repairable.... The other real problem area is the obsolete plunger style needle/seat... Upgraded to the newer screw in style in the later '67 units... Good core for someone wanting a numbers matching trailer queen tho....
Ed, ever get the chance to mock up the newer carb your using??? I eventually would like to go that route.... A Blueprinted late 76 to 80 - 800 cfm just sounds nice......
6wikdcat5 Here are the pictures of the carb and manifold I promised. Sorry it took so long (I just forgot.) Carb # is 17047254. As you can see, the heat shield covers the exhaust passage and the linkage is all above the bolt surface. The linkage pulls upward so nothing ever comes down toward the manifold. Still working on how to put the TV cable stud on it for use with a TH200-4R. Ed
For those of you looking, here's what I have for sale as individual pieces or either carb with the manifold: '66 Q-jet manifold, OE Q-jet with blue tag ID #7026240, Service Replacement carb - roll stamped # 7041304. Pictures show OE carb bolted to OE manifold. Service replacement carb is sitting on my other manifold (which is not for sale.) I also have a '66 kickdown switch and mounting bracket. Send me your zip code for S&H costs. Manifold $175. Service replacement carb $100 OE carb $80 Bracket and switch $75
You're asking me to remember something that I bought 2 - 3 years ago when I can't remember what I had for breakfast???? I think I got it from Paul Bowsher. If I did, then Russ Martin in Grass Valley, CA would be selling them for Paul if there are any left. Ed
