Will this only work on the 66-67 cars with Quadrajets or will it work on like a 70 455 with Quadrajet?

Ahhh, that's WIZARD with one "Z":D:D

It will work with any Q-jet, but it could have some interference with the carburetor idle solenoid or dashpot. Not sure.

Adding the thin metal shim is a waste of time/funds unless you have an early intake that puts hot exhaust gas directly on the carburetors baseplate. I don't stock that part because we only get a call for one about every 25 years or so. It doesn't appear too many folks replace those or most go to aftermarket intakes on the Buick engines, one or the other makes that part a SLOW mover for sure.......

That is the issue, 72 intake has exhaust thru and heats the choke thermostat.

No worries Al, I was just pulling your leg.:)

No, Cliff means the early intakes with the smilie pattern in the carburetor pad. They put heat right at the front bottom of the carburetor.

I use the shield with gasket & 1/4" spacer on my manifold....usually I need to replace the gasket after a couple of years. I'm still running big-port heads with a brand-new heat riser (~ 2 years old), still running fine.
