what is the purpose of keeping the pushrods in matched order when removing them? are they 'matched' to the lifter, the rocker arm, or both? (basically asking if they have to be kept in order with new lifters)

and has anyone used summit's pushrods? they only cost 30 bucks a set and claim to meet or exceed stock specs...are there any differences between them and stock? (material, quality, ect)

oh, one other question on the subject of summit...what's the quality of their speed-pro lifters? at only 2.75 a piece (here ) that works out to under 50 bucks a set! too good to be true?

last but not least, has anyone tried rhoads lifters? any noticable improvment in fuel economy? loss in power?

I've always kept pushrods in order becuase of the fact that if there was any specific wear on either the rocker or the lifter, that you'd keep them together. I dont think it is a big deal on a motor with a used cam though. And since you are getting new lifters you should be ok. But If I were you, I'd try to keep everything in order, but if you lost the order, i wouldnt sweat it.

My buddy had anti pump lifters, I don't know if the differnce was noticeable, but every little bit helps.

I don't have any experiance with those lifters you mentioned, so I will leave that to someone who knows. I do remember guys saying that buick lifters sometimes were poor quality, although the other end of that argument is that since buick was a higher model GM car, that there was more quality control.

Apparently...it's a VERY good idea to disassemble the lifters ONE AT A TIME to properly clean them! Several guys on board do this every time they put in new lifters and don't have problems with collapsed lifters (from the dirt). I believe they used a light oil upon re-assembly.

Inspect the pushrods on both ends for excessive wear. As far as keeping them in order...if it makes you sleep better - do it.:Brow: It doesn't cost you anything but time. While they're out - roll them on something such as a piece of glass, to make sure they are dead flat! Now's the time to find any slightly bent pushrods!

Does Summit have those lifters in stock? Are they the Buick lifters or Chevy lifters. They are out of stock on nearly all Chevy lifters.

Hey if that picture is of the actual lifters(Idoubt it)I'd be very suspicious. Notice the paper clip like retainer? The anti pump up lifter is designed to be run with harldy any preload at all and they usually employ a stamped steel or circlip retainer because under extreme conditions they use the retainer as a stop. You must have adjustable pushrods or rocker arms to use them or a hung open valve or 16 is the end result.

On the rhoads lifters I dont have them but I currently have the crane high intensity version. And unless you have a really loud exhaust. You like I are now will be very unhappy with them. CLICKETY CLICKETY CLICK CLICK CLICK. Get my point? JIm Burek warned me about them but I put'em in anyway(dont say it Jim)

I just yesterday picked up a set of clevite chevy style anti pump ups part #h819r I think from my local parts supplier and they're going in asap.

I run the Crane anti-pumps in mine and she wants to rev right on up to 5500 rpm without a hiccup.I didn't realize till about 6 months later that you needed the adj. pushrods or rocker arms but I haven't had any problems so far and this car is also my daily driver.:TU: With frequent trips to 5200 RPM.:Brow:I feel this is where the TA 212 really likes to be shifted.
